Join us at Fenwick Newcastle on Thursday 19 November as we celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau, French food and the pleasure of good wine shared in good company.
There’s something wonderfully romantic about Beaujolais Nouveau Day. It’s one of those brilliantly simple wine traditions: grapes are picked at the end of summer, made into wine at quite some speed and, on the third Thursday of November, the first bottles of that year’s vintage are opened.
Fresh, youthful Gamay, made to be enjoyed rather than tucked away in the cellar, Beaujolais Nouveau offers a first taste of the new harvest — and a very good excuse to open a few bottles together.
Join us over lunch as usual, or make the most of a rare opportunity to settle in with us after hours. Beaujolais Nouveau will be pouring, quite simply, until it’s gone.

At Fuego, Fenwick and Newcastle Wine School invite you to an evening of French-inspired small plates, exceptional Beaujolais and a little joie de vivre.
Hosted by David and Leah from Newcastle Wine School, the evening begins with a glass of Crémant, followed by a specially created menu of French-inspired small plates paired with six hand-selected Beaujolais wines.
Begin with the newly released Beaujolais Nouveau before discovering more of this fascinating region, from vibrant Beaujolais-Villages to the distinctive and elegant wines of the Beaujolais Crus.

Saltwater Fish Company and Porterhouse Butcher & Grill
At Saltwater Fish Company, join us for Beaujolais Nouveau from Georges Dubœuf, the King of Beaujolais, alongside our à la carte menu.
It’s difficult to talk about Beaujolais Nouveau without mentioning the King of Beaujolais, Georges Dubœuf. The son of a wine grower, Georges helped transform what was largely a local celebration into a tradition enjoyed around the world, travelling as far as the United States and Japan each November to open the first bottles. Few people have done more to share the joy of Beaujolais Nouveau - a tradition we’re delighted to join.
We’ll be opening our first bottles of Georges Dubœuf Beaujolais Nouveau at lunchtime and pouring it throughout the day. And, because it seems a shame to call time on the celebrations too early, both Saltwater Fish Company and Porterhouse Butcher & Grill will be open into the evening.
Guests are welcome to arrive at their reserved time, with the last seating at 7pm. The Nouveau will be pouring until it’s gone.
